We know many of you readers agree with us that good bourbon is best enjoyed with a good story. Most distilleries recognize this and present their whiskeys with a nostalgic label or grand tale. I’ve noticed the real story has to be in the taste. Buffalo Trace combines both of these in the right way.

In honor of The Hangover, we present the Top 7 Drinking (Beer/Wine/Alcohol) Movies.

As always, there is certain criteria to get on this list:
1. Alcohol must play a prominent role.
2. The movie makes you want to reach for a drink.

Based on this, we’ve got some cuts to make before we start. Leaving Las Vegas you’re out. The destructive, slow death of alcoholic Ben (Nic Cage) is a sad, well-done film. Plus, adding Elisabeth Shue as hooker is brilliant casting. But this movie is about pain, and while everyone should realize drinking has a dark side, let’s not talk about that here, OK?

Also, Cocktail we’re leaving you off as well. This Tom Cruise movie is supposed to be a drama. But after my 15th viewing, there’s just too much unintentional comedy. And it doesn’t follow rule #2, I don’t want a blue drink with a pineapple sticking out of it no matter how many times I sit through it. Not only that, the song “Kokomo” has aged about as well as Shue. Yes, she’s in this one as well.

And finally, Arthur … I don’t like you. Dudley Moore is revered for playing a spoiled alcoholic, but I never liked this movie and punching Moore always sounds better to me than tying one on with the man.

Jack Daniel's Launches Tennessee Honey: First New Whiskey in a Generation

Jack Daniel's is about to roll out its first new expression in a generation: Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey.

The new libation starts with Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 and mingles it with a special honey liqueur. The result is a smoother, sweeter version of Jack that is just 70-proof. It is a clear and understandable attempt to pull more women into drinking Jack. There is even a cute honeybee on the label. Older drinkers might take a shine to it, as well. I can see my late Aunt Letitia or even my North Carolina Gram sipping Jack's Honey.

The addition of liqueur does give the finish a vaguely medicinal, cough-syrup taste in the background of other flavors like butterscotch, pear and honey.

Bartenders are just getting samples to play with, but I can see Old Fashions being made with Jack Honey, as well as Mint Juleps that are made with Old No. 7 instead of Kentucky Bourbon.

Price: About $22.00 for a 750 ml bottle.

Scotch Whisky Trifle - it's not just for the Holidays

FIRST STEP:  Coffee-Caramel Custard

• 2 2/3 cups half and half
• 6 egg yolks
• 3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
• 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
• 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons chilled whipping cream
• 1 1/4 teaspoons instant espresso powder or instant coffee powder
• 3 tablespoons Scotch whisky

SECOND STEP:  Trifle

• 1 1-pound frozen pound cake, thawed, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
• 6 tablespoons Scotch whisky
• 1 cup raspberry jam (about 10 1/2 ounces)
• 2 1/2-pint baskets fresh
